By: Laura Whitmore31st Jul 2026 5:39PMGeorge Vincent was my great uncle. He married Elisabeth Louise Brooks on 18 June 1887. On 7 March 1890 the application for Transfer of the License for the North Australian Hotel was granted to George from John White (his brother Hubert's father-in-law). In 1897, George and his wife oversaw extensive alterations to the hotel. Unfortunately, on 15 January 1904, George was fatally injured after he missed his footing climbing the staircase inside the hotel and fell backwards, hitting his head on a concealed brick at the bottom of the stairs and fracturing the base of his skull. He was only 38 years old with three small children. On 19 January 1904 the License of the North Australian Hotel was successfully transferred to his widow, Elizabeth.
