Description
DescriptionMcKenzie and Jackson, on the corner of East and Limestone Streets, were distributors for Burgers Paints, oils, brushes, Darra Cement, Galvanised iron and piping, fibro sheets and roofing, barbed wire, enamel baths and basins, chain wire and gates, stoves, boiler stands and crockery. The business was originally established by G.H. Willson & Co. as a large general store. A. McKenzie & A.E. Jackson took over from Willson in the early 1920s and by 1930 H.E. McDermott was the sole proprietor, retaining the McKenzie & Jackson name. Other businesses sharing space in the building include R.T. Edwards electrical appliances and Roberts Health Academy original health food specialists. Next to the building is Frank Hoareās furniture shop and the Wintergarden Theater.
