TitleFifty Years of Living as Jane Thorn in Ipswich 1833 – 1853 - Chasing Our Past At HomeDate Created27th July 2021Program Chasing Our Past At HomePresenterMargaret NicolHostMelanie RushModeratorDeannah VeithDescriptionThis presentation will focus on Jane Thorn, wife of George Thorn. Jane lived in Limestone/Ipswich for 44 years and saw Limestone settlement grow into the Municipality of Ipswich. She was the first white woman in Limestone and lived with her husband and baby son in a small cottage on the banks of the Bremer River.
As her family grew to 7 sons and 2 daughters, she lived in several homes, her last being Claremont. Jane's life was filled with joy, sadness, excitement, pride and love.
Margaret Nicol, a great-granddaughter of Jane's son, Henry, will present this session, most of it taking on the role of her ancestor Jane.References (online)Click here for high resolutionReference ID2021-07-27 COPAH - Jane Thorn - Margaret NicolAsset TypeWebinar / Talk - MP4CopyrightPicture Ipswich Copyright InformationBuildings & StructuresClaremontPeople & FamiliesJane ThornThorn familyGeorge ThornTranscriptionFifty Years of Living as Jane Thorn in Ipswich 1833 – 1853 - Chasing Our Past At Home (Transcription)Curated CollectionsChasing Our Past At HomeDefining Tulmur | IpswichConvicts & Colonials: Adulthood
