DescriptionCarl married Marie Apollonia Zittlow on 4 August 1881.

Marie was born in February 1864 and died on 6 April 1949 in Bundaberg.

Marie accompanied her husband delivering goods with his bullock team. She travelled on horseback and knowing how far the bullocks could travel in one day, she would go ahead to prepare a meal for Carl’s arrival. Upon waking, she was the last to leave the campsite after her husband started with the bullock team for the next place.

Carl and Maire's children were:
Annie Helena born 20 May 1882, died in 1957
John Henry born 24 September 1883, died in 1938
Carl Francis born 19 May 1885, died September 1971
Mary Elizabeth born 10 February 1887, died in 1971
Agnes Julianna born 19 January 1889, died in 1993
Alfred Alexander born 11 October 1890, died in 1982
Hannah Matilda born 1 July 1892, died in 1987
Rosalie Margaret born 12 April 1894, died 1992

Carl and Marie lived at 18 Mt Perry Road in Rosedale. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1931. A newspaper article about the anniversary informed readers that "Mr Schmeider arrived in the Rosedale district with his parents when only a small boy. He started work timber felling with his father at the age of eleven years and has spent most of his life in the district. He also worked as a stockman and carpenter before taking up farming near Winfield in 1915. They retired to Bundaberg.
