DescriptionBuilt in 1891 by Lewis Thomas, the building had three main storeys, a basement, tower, library and billiard room. Lewis Thomas had a coal mine at Blackstone and was widely known as the 'Coal King' by 1891. He became a Member of the Legislative Assembly in 1893. The building was bought by Rylance Collieries in 1934, along with the coal rights. It was partially dismantled. Over the years it became dangerous and was completely demolished in the early 1960s.
