DescriptionPatrick O’Sullivan was born in Kerry, Ireland, on 14th March, 1818. He was a soldier, and his regiment were present at the coronation of Queen Victoria. He came to Ipswich in 1848 and commenced business as a storekeeper and later invested in property, including the O’Sullivan buildings, the Ulster Hotel, and up to 63 other buildings in Ipswich. He was a member of the first Queensland parliament and was involved with the Ipswich Hospital. O’Sullivan died in 1904. Business occupying the building include Mathers shoe store (Mathers’ first started in Ipswich), Kunze Pharmacy, and Meat Mart butcher.
