Rawlings

Frederick and William Rawlings opened their shoe store on 6 August 1898 in Brady's Buildings on Brisbane Street, opposite St Paul's Church. They had taken over the lease of their brother Samuel's store after he moved his shoe business to Brisbane. After a few months, Frederick also chose to leave Ipswich which left William as the sole proprietor of Rawlings.

Rawlings sold boots, shoes and slippers and was considered a family shoe store. 

In 1904, needing more space, Rawlings moved to a larger shop at 137 Brisbane Street where the business remained until its closure in 2018. 

In 1928 Colin Rawlings, William's son, took over the business. During his stewardship casual men's clothing was introduced to the range. 

Andy (William's grandson) became the third generation to run the store. In 1997 he owned it. By the late 1970s a branch store was opened in Booval Fair.
