By: Rosewood History Group22nd Apr 2025 2:35PMStory from Richard Dickens, former resident of Rosewood

Richard recalls tree branches appearing every Christmas tied to the post outside Sellars. He worked for Sellars for three years from 1960 and delivered to many homes and dropped bills into people’s letterboxes.

On a Monday, he would go to Amberley air base to collect their order. On Tuesdays, he would deliver the order in the 30 hundredweight (CWT) truck. Wednesdays were reserved for Ipswich where he would stock smallgoods etc. for people to purchase, and Thursday would see him take a fruit run to Amberley and Willowbank. On Friday, Richard would deliver to Rosewood residents and on Saturdays, he would clean up the back of the store. For this, he was paid £10 per week.
