Description

DescriptionRichard Henry (Dick) Williams was a long-time employee of Cribb and Foote. His career in the grocery department of Cribb and Foote spanned from c.1930 to c.1972. In 1949, Dick was promoted to manager of the grocery department and an announcement was placed in the Queensland Times newspaper to celebrate.

In 1955, the grocery department became self-service while Dick was the department manager. Cribb and Foote also introduced a self-serve grocery department to compete with the newer businesses Woolworths (1929) and Pennys (later Coles, 1938). On the shelves for sale are Rinso and Surf washing powder, Lux and Sunlight soap, and Weetbix.

Previous to his employment at Cribb and Foote, Dick worked in Bunett Street at Williams Bros., a general store run by his family.
