DescriptionHarry Oakhill Williams (1874-1956) was the fourth child of George and Georgina Williams. His father built the family home Almondsbury, Park Street, in 1883. Harry's brother Frank established F. Williams & Co. Monumental Masons in 1901 (corner of Limestone and East Streets), with Harry. Harry left the business in 1906. In 1901, Harry was a founding member of the Ipswich Amateur Photographic Society. In 1911 Harry turned professional after 15 years as an amateur photographer, opening Bijou Studio in Union Street. By 1912, the business was expanded when Harry bought out the Shelton Brothers, whose studio was in Greenham's Chambers, Nicholas Street (now known as Nolan's Corner, the studio was previously the I.X.L. Studio, run by Benjamin and Laura Taylor between 1893 and 1908 (Laura) and 1914 (Benjamin), and Thomas Mathewson's Ipswich studio before that). He continued to operate the studio until 1923.
