DescriptionJacob Spresser was Mayor of Ipswich in 1892. He was an Alderman from 1886-1901 and 1905-1908. He lived at The Terrace, North Ipswich; Delacy St, North Ipswich and Down St, North Ipswich. He was a grocer and went into business with his brother, Gottlieb Spresser. They opened a grocery and general store on The Terrace, North Ipswich, now the site of Pommer’s butter-factory. Mr Cottlieb Spresser subsequently retired from the firm, which carried on business on The Terrace for over 30 years, when Mr Jacob Spresser removed to his present business site on the corner of Down and De Lacy Streets.
