Description
DescriptionHarry married Charlotte Ann Smith and they had 12 children. He migrated to Ipswich from Britain with his brother pre 1866. He ‘had established a wholesale merchants business trading under the name of Ginn and Hooper’. In 1866 he went into partnership with John Robinson who was a soda-water manufacturer. John Robinson purchased Portion 68 (Old Tivoli Pit area) and ‘by 1867 when it was visited by a reporter of the ‘Queensland Times’ Hooper & Robinson’s mine was in full operation’. Harry lived at The Palms in Ellenborough St, Denmark Hill. He was Mayor of Ipswich in 1869. [and an alderman 1867 – 1868] (Copy of original negative from unidentified Studio)
