DescriptionMr Hubert Flinton Barker came to Australia from Yorkshire with his parents in 1876. The family resided in Toowoomba where both his parents were teachers. They moved to West Ipswich in 1883 and lived in Gogg’s Terrace. In 1884, Mr H F Barker went to work as a pupil teacher at the West Ipswich Boys’ School. The family moved back to Toowoomba where Mr Barker became a classified teacher. He was transferred to Rockhampton where he married Miss Gertrude Hadgraft. After teaching at North Rockhampton Boys school, Banana State School, and Darker Flat State School near Warwick, he was appointed to Tivoli State School in 1911. He was Vice-President of the Tivoli Junior Minor Football Club in 1919 and President of the Tivoli Cricket Club in 1925. He passed away in 1943.
