Description

DescriptionRaceview Provisional School opened on Old School Road (now Saunders Street), Raceview on 30 August 1901, on land donated by Lewis Thomas owner of Aberdare Coal Mine. The first teacher was Violet Goldthorpe Scells who started her teaching as a pupil teacher at Bromelton School near Beaudesert in 1892. The school continued to grow and in July 1915 additional funding was obtained for additions that were completed in September 1915. On 18 February 1924 the school opened at its present site at 96 Wildey Street, after the school building was relocated and improved. The area at the time was known as Davies Hill.
