DescriptionDaniel Shine was born at County Cork Ireland in 1847 and arrived at Moreton Bay in 1864. He spent a few years at the Gympie gold diggings and in Stanthorpe before moving to Ipswich where he married [Catherine] Healy in 1869. He started a small storekeeping business in Ipswich, on the site of the Prince of Wales’ Hotel. He later moved to Brisbane Street. In 1897 he took up a property at (Buaraba?). About 1926 he moved to the farm, Lucerne Park, Fernvale. He was one of the first provisional directors of the Queensland Woollen Mills and was on the Board of Management of the Ipswich General Hospital for 20 years.
