DescriptionBelieved to be the eighth or ninth house to be built in Goodna. Bought by E.S. Thomas, local owner of the first bakehouse and shop in Goodna. His wife was Marion, nee French. E.S. Thomas was a local Councillor on the then Moreton Shire Council, a Justice of the Peace and a pastor to the Goodna Congregational Church. The name Penhelyg comes from the village in Wales from which E.S. Thomas migrated. (See Ipswich City Council 'Heritage Study, 1991'). The invoice showsa receipt to E. Young of £40.0.0.on 9 July 1898 being the final payment for purchase of a residence from E. Thomas for the full cost of £317.10.0.
