DescriptionGeorge Shillito was President of the Bowls Club from 13 October 1910 until 25 July 1914. He was a prominent businessman in Ipswich and partner in Shillito & Sons Engineering (owned by Samuel Shillito). The engineering works were the first private firm in queensland commissioned to manufacture railway wagons. (Information taken from: R. Buchanan, Ipswich in the 20th century; celebrating 100 years as a city 1904-2004, 2004). He was an Alderman in the Ipswich Council from 1916 to 1924. He was President of the Ipswich Hospital Board of Management from 1911 to 1913.
