DescriptionDr Donald and Rhoda Cameron at their home in Salisbury Road, Ipswich. Dr Donald Cameron was educated at the Ipswich Grammar School and the University of Sydney. Donald and Rhoda married in 1933 in Sydney, before moving back to Ipswich to join his father, Dr J.A. Cameron's, medical practice. Dr Donald Cameron enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in 1940 and was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire. In 1949 Dr Donald Cameron contested the general elections and won the Federal Seat of Oxley for the Liberal Party, which he held until 1962. He and Rhoda established the first Meals on Wheels service in 1956 initially from their own home. Dr Donald Cameron died in 1974.
