Daniel Devine
Daniel Devine and his wife worked at Moggill before a brief stay at the Bremer Mills.
Mrs. Devine died at her home at Goodna in 1918. The Queenslander reported on 3 August 1918:
Mrs. Daniel Devine, a colonist for the past 55 years, died at her residence at Goodna on Friday week at the age of 71 years (writes our Goodna correspondent). The deceased lady was married to Mr. Devine in Tipperary, Ireland in September 1863, and the honeymoon was spent on board the barque Araidne en route for Australia. After four months, they landed in Moreton Bay, and owing to measles breaking out, a period of quarantine was passed at Dunwich. for a short time they lived in Brisbane., and then engaged as a married couple at Moggill. After a brief stay at the Bremer Mills, they purchased a farm in Prior's Pocket, opposite the Goodna Asylum. In this place they were overtaken by the 1890 flood, and lost everything. they soon re-established themselves, but in the great flood of 1893 they again lost everything. Soon after this they moved to Goodna - across the river - and had resided there ever since. The late Mrs. Devine had enjoyed good health up to about 2 years ago, when heart trouble developed. The remains were interred in the Goodna Cemetery on Saturday, the Rev. M. Stapleton conducting the service at the graveside.
