Aunty Jill Davidson-Thompson is a Yuggera, Birin & Kullilli Elder with a strong ancestral connection to the local Indigenous community on Yuggera Country (Ipswich and surrounding areas). She graciously shares her family heritage, reflecting on her connections to Blackfellow Creek, the Purga Mission, and Boonah.

Aunty Jill reflects on how witnessing the strength of matriarchal responsibilities, her father’s dedicated work ethic, and being raised within a close-knit Indigenous community instilled in her a deep respect for community and collective responsibility that she carried into adulthood.

She has since dedicated her life to social justice, activism, conservation and community work. She reflects on her contributions, including supporting the opening of the first Aboriginal cemetery at Purga, assisting in the establishment of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service in Ipswich, participating in the King George Square Aboriginal land rights marches, and serving on the boards of ATSILS and Kambu Health.
