History

Construction of the Cobb & Co. interactive shelter began in 2011. The new community park was established as a tribute to the historic Cobb & Co. stagecoaches, which began operating between Brisbane and Ipswich on 1 January 1866. In those early days, passengers and mail were transported by rail to Grandchester, where the journey continued by Cobb & Co. coach from Grandchester to Toowoomba. To honour this iconic transport service, the display shelter was designed to feature a stagecoach, housed within a structure inspired by the traditional sheds once used to store these coaches.

On Sunday, 9 October 2011, Rosewood celebrated the opening of the 'Staging Post', a new community space showcasing a replica of a Cobb & Co. coach.
