Glebe Road, No. 66, Newtown

The original Deed of Grant for allotment 97 was issued to Robert Little and Patrick O’Sullivan on 4 September 1854. By the following year, the title was held solely by Patrick O’Sullivan. It was recorded and enrolled in the office for Registry of Deeds Supreme Court, on the 22 August 1856. Patrick O'Sullivan was a ticket of leave convict, who had settled in Ipswich by May 1847. He became a successful businessman and landowner in Ipswich and was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.

A Certificate of Title for allotment 97, subdivision 2 of allotment 96, was issued to John Henry Foote on 21 October 1914 and approved on 9 November 1914. The allotment measured sixteen acres, two roods and thirty-eight perches. This title bears 42 stamps, indicating various subdivisions, re-subdivisions, and a road dedication in 1933.

J. H. Foote married Ellen Amelia Rawlings on 3 October 1888. After the wedding the couple lived on Glebe Road, before moving to Denmark Hill in the early 1930s. J. H. Foote was a member of the firm Cribb and Foote until his retirement in approximately 1925. 

On 3 August 1933, Reginald Frederick Miller purchased 28 perches, identified as Subdivision 49 of allotment 97. He secured a Bill of Mortgage with the National Bank of Australasia Limited on 12 August 1937, indicating the house was built in late 1937 or the following year. The property transferred to his wife, Jessie W. Miller after his death on 22 June 1958.

This is a bespoke, interwar low-set bungalow home.

The 1992 Ipswich Heritage Study describes the precinct from 66 to 76 Glebe Road as being:

A line of houses of the inter-war period, exhibiting typical low pitched rooves with gable front extensions, gabled porches, lead light glass, bay windows with bell-cast weatherboarding, weatherboarded 'pillars' to front porches and slatted balustrading. On the corner of King Street, the house at 66 Glebe Road displays the decorative expressed rafters, battened gable verge panels, and wire plus timber fence with gate posts, seen again varied forms on the house at 72 Glebe Road.

The precinct is significant in the local context as a collection of interwar houses displaying variations on the forms of that period.
