Karalee Library Pod, Ipswich Libraries (2019- )

Ipswich Libraries' Karalee Library Pod was launched on 4th October 2019, at Karalee Shopping Village.

The Library Pod was the first of its kind in Australia for a public library service.  Located within the busy community and retail hub of Karalee Shopping Village, Library patrons have 24 hour access to this self-service Pod that contains a curated collection of popular and trending books.

The Pod features large touch screens, enabling customers to browse the Library's e-books, e-magazines, and e-audio collections, that can be downloaded via the Ipswich Libraries App.

Using a mobile phone or library card, customers can easily open one of the collection cabinets, select a book, and the embedded RFID system will automatically lend items.  Customers are also able to return books to the Pod and pick-up reservations that have been made via the Library's website

When the Library Pod launched in October 2019, it was a first for Public Libraries in Australia.
