Ipswich Central Library, Ipswich Libraries (2020- )

Ipswich Central Library opened at its current location on Nicholas Street on Monday December 7th 2020, following its official launch on Saturday 5th December.

The opening of this library was the first time in Ipswich that collections targeted at adults and children were separated into different library branches, with the children's items previously in the collection at the South Street library location moving to the Ipswich Children's Library.

Ipswich Central Library holds a collection targeted at audiences 13 and older. On opening, this collection totaled more than 70,000 items, including books, DVDs, magazines and audiobooks.

This library features a number of quiet study pods, bookable spaces, printing, scanning, copying and computer facilities available for members of Ipswich Libraries.

A makerspace featuring digital technologies is also located inside the library, with staff-assisted 3D printing sessions available.

Programs hosted by Ipswich Libraries held at Ipswich Central Library are generally for teens, adults and seniors. 

The library was part of the the Ipswich Central redesign incorporating the 1 Nicholas St administration building, Tulmur Place plaza and Ipswich Children's Library.
