By: Kathryn Rodgers13th Oct 2021 1:58PMRosewood State School Principal MARK ROBERTSON and his wife and son Ian lived in this home. Mark was Principal for the full ten years I attended Rosewood State School retiring at the end of 1976.
Mark chose THE NORTHERN LIGHTS OF OLD ABERDEEN for our Grade 8 Chior to sing in 1974 at Speech Night conducted by the special Jeanette
Johanson MY HOME ECONOMICS TEACHER. She chose PASS IT ON.
I recall a Parent Teacher interview when I was in Grade 9 with Mark. He strictly said that I must have mostly As on my Report Card. This called Mum DAPHNE IRENE RODGERS nee Forrester to action. From then after School Makepeace St Cricket Games and a Girl Guide Camp were not attended by me. For four weeks before exam time I was to be in my room studying. I think I could watch THE BRADY BUNCH.
In 1976 Year 10 I was given the English and History Prizes and a Biro because I was almost DUX at Speech Night. I saw Mum and Mark knew best.
After Retirement in 1976 MARK ROBERTSON ran a shop in John St Rosewood selling Sports Equipment. This allowed him to stay in touch with the Pupils and Students he had helped raise. THE TOWN WAS GIVEN MUCH FUN.
