DescriptionBleak House was originally the home of James and Catherine Foote. It was later purchased by Henry Smart Cribb from his uncle's estate in 1896. In 1928 H. S. Cribb purchased Garowie from his brother's estate (James Clarke Cribb) and he sold Bleak House. The house was sold for removal and the land was cut up and sold. The lower storey was moved and with the upper railings and roof became another house. It was sold again in late 1985 for removal.
