Description'Kathleen Aroon', a two-act play by Cecil Clark, was performed by members of St Mary's Choir as part of St Patrick's Day celebrations.
The play, as described by the Queensland Times the following day, followed a simple plot: 'boy meets girl, but boy has wealthy and snobbish relatives, who oppose his marriage to a girl who comes from solid (but to the snobs undesirable) Irish stock. As usual, boy got girl in the end, but not without a number of entertaining sequences, with the accent on humour provided by a "silly ass," who was, in fact, plotting to overthrow the antagonists of romance, and a handyman whose brogue was as rich and juicy as "Mrs Murphy's Chowder."References (online)Large Crowd Enjoyed Play at St Mary's, Queensland Times, Saturday 18 March 1950, p.2
