DescriptionFormer School believed to have been established in 1867. The present building appears to be c.1880s, built to a standard Works Department design, with later modifications. It closed in 1967 due to low attendance and was then owned by the QCWA who named it Anna Bauer House.
Anna Bauer and her husband Walter operated a butcher's shop at Flinders View about 1910, then came to Purga to farm and run cattle. Anna was involved with the local church and was a QCWA member for 30 years, for some of this time as a president. She founded two QCWA branches, at Purga and Peak Crossing.References (online)Expanded Ipswich Heritage Study, Volume 3, 1997
