Description

Notable Federal politicians at this time included Josiah Francis and Federal Health Minister Donald Cameron. Josiah Francis had served in World War I and was later president of the Ipswich RSL. He entered Federal politics in 1922 and was appointed Minister on several occasions including Minister for the Army and the Navy. In 1957, he was knighted by the Queen while serving as Australian Consul General in New York.
