Presbyterian
The foundation stone of the present St Stephen's Presbyterian Church was laid in August 1865 by the Hon. Arthur Macalister. The church opened in early 1866.

Catholic
The first permanent convent in Elizabeth Street, was opened on 25 July 1864 by the Right Reverend James O'Quinn D.D., Bishop of Brisbane. The Presbytery opened in 1876.

Baptist
The foundation stone for a new church building on the south side of Brisbane Street, was laid in 1875. The building was opened on December 11, 1876 by Edmund Gregory.

Lutheran
Half an acre of land was granted in Roderick Street in September 1862. Two years later, a brick church was erected and was dedicated on 16 June 1864.
