Dreaming of Tomorrow: Spiritual Life
Description
During the 1950s and 1960s according to Robyn Buchanan in Ipswich in the 20th Century:
Religion had a greater importance in everyday life and most people attended church regularly. For a long time, there had been a subtle divide between Catholics and Protestants, rarely acknowledged overtly but always present. In employment, for example, Catholics usually worked at Beirnes while Protestants worked at Cribb & Foote. Marriages between Catholics and Protestants often caused stress in the families concerned. Fortunately, these rigid old attitudes were gradually fading.
