DescriptionThomas (Jnr) and Louisa had eight children and lived on what is now the site of Fairy Knoll, built for Thomas . He died in 1897 just before completion of the home. Louisa, his second wife, lived there with the family until her death in 1947. Thomas worked with his father and brother (Josias) making railway carriages for the Queensland Railway Department, this continued until the early 1930s. At the same time the family were involved in the timber industry. Rachel Hancock's father, Norman is seated second on the right, holding the sleeve of Olive who later ran the Ipswich Congregational Church Sunday School and Kindergarten. The baby is Vivian Hancock. Eva Hancock is standing behind Norman, married Henry Bennett and lived at 'Ashley' 8 Blackstone Street. Left to right: Robin, Vera, Florence, Thomas, Jnr, Sidney, T Walter, Louisa with Vivian, Eva, Norman, Olive. Another baby, Violet, was born in January 1897, two months before her father died.
