DescriptionPrime Computer Inc. was a Massachusetts based minicomputer company, operating from 1972 until 1992.
c.1985 Ipswich & West Moreton Building Society started using Prime Computers.
The 1985 Prime 9955 ran at 4.0 MIPS had 8-16 MB of memory and 2.7 GB of disc storage and a 9-track tape unit.
Also in 1985, Prime was the 6th largest minicomputer company in the US, with estimated revenues of $US546 million. Prime failed to keep up with the introduction of the personal computer and folded in 1992.
