DescriptionBorn Estelle Pearson, Estelle grew up on a farm at Munbilla, near Kalbar, known as Pearson's Flats.
One of seven children, she went to school at Obun Obun and, on finishing school, worked around the family home and farm.
Estelle married James Gibson in the early 1920s. James, who was living a t Roderick Street at the time, was a farmer who originally came from Roma and was a former soldier.
The couple lived in Clay Street during the Great Depression. Estelle worked at Londy's Cafe during this time. James passed away in Roma in the mid-1980s.
The family also lived in Omar Street (from 1952) and Short Street (from 1959). In 1962 Estelle moved in with her youngest daughter at Robertson Road. Following a broken leg in 1996, Estelle moved into Lauriston Nursing Home.
They had three children, six grandchildren, and, in 1998, four great-grandchildren.Additional Information This photo was included in the Ipswich Global Information Centre Time Capsule (Ipswich Library) in 1998.
