The Chaplain on the 'Mount Stuart Elphinstone' wrote a journal in which he recorded his thoughts on the character of the prisoners. His entry for Frederick Beeston, aged 22 read: Very well behaved; and always ready to converse with me (the opposite was the case with many) but too conceited which I think the only thing that will be to his prejudice.

Frederick was part of Earl Grey's "Exile System".

An advertisement appeared in The Moreton Bay Courier in November 1850 which read: A young man wishes for immediate services as Cook or Waiter. Undeniable references as to honesty, sobriety, and cleanliness. Address, with full particulars, F. Beeston, Post Office, Ipswich. Is this the same F. Beston (Beeston)?
