Michael Crofton

Michael Crofton received a Ticket of Leave for Ipswich in January 1859. He was ordered by the Police Magistrate in Ipswich to find employment seven miles from town.

 Ticket of Leave was cancelled for committing larceny in 1859.

The North Australian, Ipswich Newspaper reported on Tuesday 14 June 1859:

Before the Police Magistrate.

Michael Crofton, remanded from yesterday on a charge of larceny, was again brought up. Hugh Maxwell proved that prisoner was lodging in his house; that he got drunk and he had to put him outside the house in an out-house. The prisoner had one of his table-cloths round him when he was apprehended by the police for using obscene language and creating a disturbance, about three o'clock in the morning. The Bench dismissed the charge for the larceny, and committed the prisoner twenty-four hours for disorderly conduct.
