DescriptionQueensland Country Women's Association of Australia Hostel for girls on the corner of Milford and Brisbane Streets. The CWA commenced in Ipswich in the 1920s. Originally constructed as a one storey residence around 1885 for Thomas Towell, an Ipswich telegraph operator. Dr Edward Emsley Brown bought it in 1908 and added the second storey.
