In 1930, with the death of Anne Thomas, Brynhyfryd, was put up for action. However, the house remained unsold due to public thinking that building was seriously undermined.

Many of the internal fixtures were removed. The lift well was made into a pulpit as St Joseph’s Catholic Church and the front doors of mansion were removed to the Welsh church at Blackstone.
