2005 Design, Heritage, Environment and Student Awards

The fourteenth annual Design, Heritage, Environment and Student Awards was held on 10 June 2005 at the Brookwater Golf Club. The Master of Ceremonies was Ashleigh Mac and the Guest Presenter was Rachel Nolan MP.

• Overall Design Award for Excellence: ‘Refurbishment of the Hotel Metropole’, 253 Brisbane Street, Ipswich - Nicholas Mandikos & Associates; HDC – Hospitality Design Construction;  and Phase 9 Design
• Overall Heritage Award for Excellence: ‘Kerwick House’ 22 Roderick Street, Ipswich
• Overall Environment Award for Excellence: ‘Bluegum Reserve’ - The Bluegum Reserve Revegetation Group
• Overall Student Award for Excellence: ‘Noah’s Recycled Ark’ - Prep M Students from West Moreton Anglican College

• A Gold Award was presented to Nicholas Mandikos & Associates; HDC – Hospitality Design Construction; & Phase Design for the ‘Refurbishment of the Hotel Metropole’, 253 Brisbane Street, Ipswich

• A Silver Award was presented to Narkos for conversion of a residence to a medical centre at '13 Pring Street, Ipswich'
• A Silver Award was presented to Department of Housing (Community Housing) & Project Services for the Boarding House located at '19-25 Flint Street, North Ipswich'

• A Silver Award was presented to The Salvation Army for 'Renovation of Canaan, Abel House, Endeavour Hall & the Work Shed', 29 Riverview Rd, Riverview
• A Special Commendation was presented for renovation of ‘Jacaranda’, 5 Waterworks Road, North Ipswich
• A Special Commendation was presented to the Management Committee of the Goodna Neighbourhood House for the 'Goodna Neighbourhood House'

Environment Awards

• A Gold Award was presented to Dr Clive McAlpine & Andrew Nisbet for the ‘Bluegum Reserve’
• A Gold Award was presented to Thiess Services for the ‘Thiess Services Forestry Trials’
• A Silver Award was presented to Arnold Rieck for the 'Rosewood Scrub Arboretum Peace Park at Rosewood – Establish Nature Trails'

• A Special Commendation was presented to Nikkita Hubbard, Eden Huia & Amy Ingram from Ipswich State High School for the posters they prepared as part of the class project for a ‘Year 8 Centre Design'
• A Special Commendation was presented to Maddie from West Moreton Anglican College for the boat she designed as part of the class project ‘Noah’s Recycled Ark’
