Description

DescriptionClaremont was built by John Panton in 1858. It is believed that the sandstone blocks were obtained from the old Woogaroo quarries on the riverbank at Goodna. He was a cotton grower who grew the first cotton commercially in Woodend, Ipswich in 1862. This is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Ipswich.
