DEATH OF MR D T KEOGH, M.L.A.

A SUDDEN HEART SEIZURE

It will be learned with deep regret that Mr Denis Thomas Keogh, member for Rosewood, died suddenly at a late hour last evening.  It appears that Mr Keogh caught the 10pm goods train, and on arrival at the Ipswich Railway Station, at 11.30 had a sudden heart seizure. The railway officers immediately went to Mr Keogh's assistance, but he was found to be dying. His daughter, Mrs T J Doran, was summoned, as was the Ambulance Brigade.  The deceased was conveyed to his late resident in Brisbane Street, Ipswich from which the funeral will leave for the Ipswich Cemetery at 3.30 pm tomorrow.  

The late Mr Keogh was born at Briarfield, County Galway, Ireland in 1838, and left Ireland in 1854 for Melbourne.  He subsequently visited the Mount Blackwood and McIvor goldfields and in 1859 he came to Queensland.  He managed the Aderton and Murilla stations for Mr Henry Coxon for about two years then removed to  Ipswich.  He entered into business in that township, and had lived there up to the time of his death.  He was an Alderman of the Ipswich Council for 11 years, and was Mayor of Ipswich in 1893.  He was first elected for Rosewood in 1896, and had represented that constituency ever since with the exception of a break in 1900-2.
