2017 Design, Heritage, Environment and Student Awards
The twenty-sixth Annual Awards in Design, Heritage, Environment and Student categories was held at the Ipswich Civic Centre on 29 August 2017. The Master of Ceremonies was Ashleigh Mac and the Guest Presenter was George Seymour, Deputy Chair of the Queensland Heritage Council.

The Overall Award winners were:
- Overall Heritage Award for Excellence: "Queensland Pioneer Dinner Train" - Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway Co-op
- Overall Design Award for Excellence: Year 12 "Built Environment Project" - Ipswich Girls Grammar School
- Overall Environment Award for Excellence: "Growing Gardeners" - Ipswich West State School
- Overall Student Award for Excellence: "Growing Gardeners" - Ipswich West State School
Amex Design Awards
- A Gold Award was presented to Ipswich Girls Grammar School students Louise Porter, Madeleine Arnold and Tilly McEwan-Watson for their "Modern Home Design" in the Special Projects category
- A Silver Award was presented to West Moreton Hospital and Health Service and Gibson Architects for the "Ipswich Hospital High Dependency Unit" in the Special Projects category
- Highly Recommended was presented to Ian Boettcher and Gibson Architects for the Office Refurbishment of 17 Blackstone Road, Eastern Heights in the Commercial/Industrial Development category
Ron Brown Memorial Heritage Awards
- A Gold Award was presented to the Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway Co-op for the "Queensland Pioneer Dinner Train" in the Heritage Conservation Work, Commercial Non-Residential category
- A Gold Award was present to St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland for "Ozanam House" in the Heritage Conservation Work, Commercial Non-Residential category
- A Gold Award was present to CPM Group, James and Tracey Long and Gibson Architects for Stage 2 of " 88 Limestone Street" in the Heritage Conservation Work, Commercial Non-Residential category
- A Gold Award was present to CPM Group, James and Tracey Long and Gibson Architects for "Dovetails and the Lord Lamington Suite" in the Heritage Conservation Work, Commercial Non-Residential category
- A Silver Award was presented to Alara Qld Limited and Gibson Architects for "Dingley Dell" in the Heritage Conservation Work, Commercial Non-Residential category
- A Gold Award was presented to Noel and Delwyn Bergman for their publication "The Passage of Time" in the Heritage Education and Promotion category
- A Gold Award was presented to Jacqueline Pearce and Robyn Buchanan for the "Queensland Woollen Mills Conservation Management Plan" in the Heritage Education and Promotion category
- Silver Awards were presented to Ruth Woods for the "Cooneana" and "Rhondda Office" Conservation Management Plans in the Heritage Education and Promotion category
National Trust Awards
Certificates were presented to the owners of the properties that participated in the Great Houses of Ipswich Open Days
- Booval House at 14 Cothill Road, Booval was opened by John and Helen Jackson on 13 May 2017
- Knockmoyra at 20 Darling Street, Ipswich was opened by Anthea and Wayne Martin on 13 May 2017
- Pen y Llechwedd at 8 Waghorn Street, Woodend was opened by Nicole and Adam Cox
The Best Maintained Heritage Property Award was presented to Susan and Shaun Cassidy for "Dougleen" at 67 Thorn Street, Ipswich
Heritage Hall of Fame
The Whitehead family and Gordon Reeves were inducted into the Hall of Fame for "Whitehead Studios" contribution to recording the development and history of Ipswich
Enviroplan Environment Awards
- A Gold Award was presented to Ipswich West State School for their project "Growing Gardeners"
- A Gold Award was presented to Haigslea State School for the "Haigslea State School 140th Celebrations"
- A Silver Award was presented to Yourtown and Darin Brushe for the "Bundamba Creek Rehabilitation Partnership - Yourtown"
- A Silver Award was presented to Anthony Edwards and the Bremer River Network for their "Garden of Eden Project - Cribb Park:
- A Sustainability Award was presented to Helen Morrison for the "Fig Tree" at 3 Roma Street, North Booval
- A Sustainability Award was presented for the "Canning Street Fig Trees" at 2 Canning Street, North Ipswich
- A Sustainability Award was presented to Rachel Leembruggen for "Environmental Education"
