2019 Heritage Awards

The twenty-seventh Awards for Excellence in Heritage, was held in the Lord Lamington Suite, 88 Limestone Street on Thursday 9 May 2019. The Master of Ceremonies was Ali Fyfe and the guest speaker was Dr Jeannie Sim who also presented the awards.

The Overall Award winners were:

• The Overall Ron Brown Heritage Award: "Fleming Crypt Project" - Classical Stone Australia, L.R. Thomas Funeral Directors, The University of Southern Queensland and Alyn Hawkes
• The Overall Robyn Buchanan History Award: "Immeasurable Cost" - Kate Pitty

Ron Brown Heritage Awards

• A Commendation was awarded to Chris Elliott for the ensuite extension to "Bowerlea"
• A Commendation was awarded to Ipswich Girls Grammar School, Kathryn Simmons and Jenny rush for the Ipswich Girls' Grammar School Main Building Renovation/Restoration of the ground floor

Robyn Buchanan History Awards

• A Silver Award was presented to Donald Walker for his publication "The Walkers of Aberdare: An Ipswich Mining Family"
• A Commendation was presented to Richard Thorn for his publication "George Thorn: The father of Ipswich"
• A Commendation was presented to Susanne Ruijs for her publication "Rosewood Then & Now: a story through time"

National Trust Awards

Certificates were presented to the owners of the properties that participated in the Great Houses of Ipswich Open Days

• "Rhossilli" at 4 Glebe Road, Newtown was opened by Ron and Liz Jumelet on 12 May 2018
• "Dougleen" at 67 Thorn Street, Ipswich was opened by Sue and Shaun Cassidy on 12 May 2018
• "Brighton Cottage" at 51 Waghron Street, Ipswich was opened by Denise and Geoff Varigos on 12 May 2018
• "Arrochar" at 3 Waghorn Street, Woodend was open
• "Fairy Knoll" at 2a Robertson Road, Eastern Heights was opened by Michael and Louise Fish on 15 September 2018
• "Rockton" at 4 Rockton Street, Newtown was opened by Angela and Wybe Geertsma on 15 September 2018

The National Trust Best Maintained Property Award was presented to Simone and Jason Hubbard for "Lakemba" on Chelmsford Avenue, Ipswich

Ipswich Heritage Hall of Fame

Ivan McDonald was inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of twenty years as the Heritage Adviser for Ipswich City Council.

Certificates of recognition were presented to members of the Ipswich Heritage and Monuments Advisory Committee as follows:
