Description
DescriptionArrochar, located at 3 Waghorn Street, was built in the early 1900s for accountant and town clerk, Albion Haynes. It was designed by George Brockwell Gill, an architect responsible for a number of important domestic and civic buildings in Ipswich. 'Arrochar' is known as a twin to The Ipswich Club, another Brockwell Gill design. Doris, Marjorie and Harriet Foote bought the house in 1935. Ambrose Shaw bought it in 1948. In 1951 it was bought by Ipswich surveyor Ian Hargreaves and his wife, Eileen. This is a substantial highset, late Federation timber house.
