Springfield
In early 1992 Maha Sinnathaby started planning for the area of Springfield and submitted these plans to the Ipswich City Council. He had established the name at this point (it was previously known as O'Possum Creek). He also submitted a rezoning and subdivision application for the approval of 1100 residential lots.
In 1992, Sinnathamby signed a contract to purchase the land of approximately 2800 hectares from the Associated Forest Holdings with a sale of 3 million dollars. The land was then gazetted and new titles were registed. In August 1992 he had ownership of the land and Springfield was officially launched by the Deputy Premier. In March 1993 the First house and land package was sold.
