Description

DescriptionThe Motor Launch Celia was owned by Egbert Valentine Young and T. Geertz, who ran popular excursions on the Bremer River between 1908 and 1911. It is thought that Young is the gentleman next to the wheel, with Geertz sitting to the right. The third gentlemen on the right is Ipswich Architect Martin William (Will) Haenke. Opposite him, in the dark stripped blouse, is his wife Laura. The lady sitting at the stern, left side, is thought to be Laura Taylor, the mother of Laura Haenke.

The photographer is thought to be Benjamin Taylor, who, along with his wife Laura, owned and operated the I.X.L. Studios, based in Greenham Chambers, Nicholas Street, Ipswich, from the 1880s to 1914.
