DescriptionRedcliffe was the site of Queensland’s first convict settlement in 1824, although it was soon deemed unsuitable and abandoned in favour of the now Brisbane CBD in 1825. In the 1860s, the area was declared an agricultural reserve and by the 1880s, Redcliffe had gained a reputation as a seaside resort. It is thought that the Benjamin and Laura Taylor, their daughter Laura and her husband Will Haenke regularly visited Redcliffe, with Will, an architect, designing two holiday homes for his family. This image is part of the Benjamin and Laura Taylor, I.X.L. Studio collection.
