Ashwell

Ashwell was named after the town of Ashwell in the United Kingdom.

The Queensland Times reported on Saturday 15 January 1887 that a new State School was to be established at Rosewood Scrub, to be called Ashwell. The tender of George Schlecht was accepted to erect the school buildings. The Ashwell State School was opened on November 7 1887, after Walter Loveday and Henry Stevens each provided an acre of land for the school's use.

A Baptist Church opened in 1873 and a larger building replaced it in 1887, able to seat 200 people. A manse was built near the church. The work of the church was moved to Rosewood in 1959 and the church was sold for demolition.

The Railway Station, which included a post office receiving office, closed in 1964.
