AddBy: Kathryn Rodgers2nd Oct 2024 1:17PMIt was the GALVANIZED FESTIVAL 2024.On Sunday 1st Sept I attended the Old Court House Tours and Open Day at 2pm. The detailed Tour was interesting and I learned that the Old Courthouse today is very Arty, Crafty and Creative. I met Sally Hetherington of Ipswich Mini crafters. She had kindly accepted my Rosewood Photographs which I donated to Picture Ipswich when she ran that before Melanie Rush. I saw the special Talents of Sally and her group in the high quality Scale Models. We discussed the R.T. Edwards Scale Model derived from a Picture Ipswich Photo.Tom Edwards had kindly donated $250 of Electrical Products as the Second Prize for the Ipswich Seniors Week Photograghic Competition about 2009. I won this with a photo I snapped of my great friend Isabella Kearsley OAM who was well known in the Community. Tom was very generous!

By: Kathryn Rodgers2nd Jan 2023 9:20PMAbout 2004 a small group of keen Poets commenced at the Old Courthouse. At the first meeting it was sugested by a Movie Fan that the group be called 'The Dead Poet's Society.' Isabella Kearsley who had taught me to write Poetry in her exciting Grade 6/7 Composite Class at Rosewood State School in 1972 (Grade 6 for me) was present. She was on the Board of Teacher Education in 1982. I heard her teach about the Power of Words often in Rosewood. Isabella firmly and kindly stated that our group should be called 'The Live Poet's Society' to my relief! It was!
We met regularly and read Poems we had composed to the group. This gave us an audience and we encouraged each other. Isabella later invited me and her fellow Rosewoodite Jenny Stubbs to functions to hear her recite Poetry well.
Isabella was important with Councillor David Pahlke in running the Ipswich Poetry Feast.

By: Kathryn Rodgers28th Dec 2022 7:56PMIn 2005 I was a member of the Ipswich Photographic Society. Meetings were held here. Many talented Photographers including Tom Mason were interesting Teachers at our Meetings. We were given many practical projects in taking Photos.I remember one night all present filmed a well lit colourful artistically arranged bowl of fruit. Whiteheads generously donated equipment to enhance our Photos. I learned much at the meetings. I am thankful to the leaders, teachers and encouraging members. Singer and School Teacher Wendy Hill was a great friend there. I see photography as fun!
