Parkinson & Noble
William Bretherton Parkinson commenced his own real estate agency in Ipswich in 1919. The agency also performed valuations and held auctions.
In February 1922 Parkinson registered a business with William J. Jones which became known as Parkinson & Jones - Auctioneers. It does not appear to have lasted very long with Bill Parkinson then continuing to trade on his own. In about 1947 Parkinson took on Victor Noble as his business partner, thus establishing Parkinson & Noble. This business was also a booking agent for Australian National Airways.
In the early 1950s Parkinson & Noble was located between the Queensland Times building and the Viola Cafe with Big White's Furniture just down the block. Manahan's grocery store, Ipswich Cash & Carry, and Goleby's were opposite.
Parkinson was involved in the real estate business in Ipswich for 32 years until his death in 1951. At the time he lived at 103 Chermside Road, East Ipswich. The business of Parkinson & Noble carried on for some time after his death, still occupying 128 Brisbane Street until at least 1955.
He acted in the sale of Cribb & Foote Ltd. and many other high profile property and business sales around Ipswich.
Mavis Parkinson was his daughter.
Prior to becoming a real estate agent William Parkinson worked for the Ipswich Gas Company, and Cribb & Foote.
